this is how i bought my coupe , and you can see its in terible state
but in the sale there was a v12 engine and some other small parts  so  alltogether it was a good deal
AND ITS STILL A COUPE,   SO NO WORRIES  HERE !!!

the coupe is moved inside  of the workshop
now we can start taking the car appart
this will take a few weeks

in the meen time i also ordered some body panels
to replace the rust bugs with

img_1550.jpg

img_1545.jpg

img_1544.jpg

ok by now  the body is starting to look fairly  dismanteled
body replacement panels have arived and what i dont have is going to be made  by hand

also
before  any grinding  or welding will start i want to go to the JDHT museum
to have a look at the real thing

more pictures will follow a.s.a.p.

Not a lot has happened  the last few weeks  its way to cold to do anything  but very soon i will proceed with the car
at this moment i am doing my research work  and i am trying to get as much information as i can find  ( anything is welcome )
and i did take out the dash and all the wiring
next step is the engine i ll take it out of the car in hopefully a week or two

img_1617.jpg

yes it's a bit warmer now so work is in progress

i took all sound proofing out of the car
boot interiour is taken out to
so now its time to take out  the engine
than i did get a bit further in my search  for more information on the car
i found out where to get the plastic body kit

for the people who want it  yust contact me

06-06-2006

finaly  i can start  work again
after a bit of a medical problem

the car has moved  to a new home and it's  joined by a litlle xjs
that i am going to use  for parts
like the engine  and rear dif
i yust started stripping the xjs  so i can get rid of the body shel  as soon as posible
and than  its chopping time
the floor , the inner  and outer sills are going to be replaced
and all the other bad  spots  are going to be taken out and replaced by  new solid  metal

other than that i am going to place a steel tube  inside the sills so it will be stronger
something like the modifications  used on a convertable
other than that  the rollcage  wil strengthen the body  a lot to

img_1714.jpg

the xjs is gone  and engine gearbox rear and front axle have moved home
the rest has moved to the scrapyard

now it's the coupe's time to wake up
first i have taken out the front support beam
where the radiator is resting on
the bad parts are taken out  and its well on its way to become a sollid frontend again

the left hand sill/ inner sill and floot plate  have left the car and are on theyr way to be scrapped
new parts are already here so they will be fitted soon
other than that  the whole body ( almost whole body )
is being sanded down to get all the paint off
it turned out that the car had been in a crash  in the past and also has a lot of body parts replaced
all dodgy repairs  so this time all will be done  right

and yes the last news
yust in from the uk
i got an e mail back from the people at the JDHT museum
that the original car is in the workshop
where its having some work done
and with a bit of luck i am going over to see it in a few weeks
when i have my hollidays

so more from me in a few weeks  and hopefully with a lot more news
also  some pictures

25/26/27- 09- 2006

best day in ages
well 3 days  actually

day one
i set off to catch the boat  and round 8 in the evening i arived in the uk
well it felt like i was back home
stupid  saying that  because  i dont have a lot of great memories
of the 2 years  i lived in the uk
but still it feels  like comming home every time i go back
music on  and taking my time  i drove to coventry
took me about  30 minutes to find  brownslane  because  my map wasnt verry clear
but i found it
time for some sleep

next  morning i woke up  got up en drove straight to the museum
where i arrived  at 8:30 and no one was there yet
but  no problem  i came  for only one car  so  to wait  a litle  was no problem
15 minutes later i was taken to the workshop
there in the back of the workshop  it was
the reason of all this crazyness

broadspeedworkshop.jpg

the rest of the day was spend looking  at everything i didnt understand before ( but do understand  now )
things that where difrent changed or compleetly unoriginal
also i got  loads  of information  and great  racing stories
bij the person taking care of all these great cars
( thank you for the info and nice day  Gary )

so all in all a chance of a lifetime  and one i wouldn t want to have missed

and the last day
well mainly spend  it sleeping and waiting for the boat  but before that i quickly picked up the body kit
and the car looks so difrent  with it
great

it has been a while ago  that i have updated my site  but  i have been bussy and if i have nothing to tell it ll be boring to write about it

first of all i have cut out the floor and the inner and outer sill on the right hand side
and replaced the bad metal with brand new panels
in the proces i also have made some alterations  to the original inner sill
to make the air intake  on the rear a working  one  so that the rear brakes will be cooled  while driving
there has also been a steel beam  placed inside the sill to strengthen  the car  and at the same time i have welded in  some plates to mount the rollcage to

other than that  i have been fitting  the front spoiler  and made some alterations  there so i can mount it propperly
in the right place  and firmly in its place
also i am in the proces  of fabricating  the front air intakes  in the front main beam  to cool the front brakes

the front fenders had to be cut  to size  to make this possible when  i mounted the front spoiler  i found out  that the original  grill will not fit   it is about  a 10 cm to short
so i ll have to fabricate  one myself

the rear spoiler is a story on its own
i have been looking oon the net for a year now
and i havent found one  so i am fabricating one myself   first  a patern  than a master mold  and out of this mold i am going to make the spoiler

a lot of work  but  if  you want  it like the original you ll have to put some work in it

almost 2007
in the week prior to the new year i have been taking the v12 engine appart
and a big shock !!!
heads and camshafts are perfect  like the engine has yust been run in
but in the cooling chanels between the cilinders  there is a big build up of
what they call over here  kettle stone
it looks like there is formed  a new piece of engine block inside  and thats not  what i need  if i want good cooling  of the engine
a quick phone call to an engine workshop nearby gave me a bit of rest
they told me they can get it out  without any problem
so lets hope they can
so now its cleaning the bits  as good as i can
and yes sorry for the housewifes that may read this  but the dish washer  does the job perfect  hihihihihihihihih
after a clean with petrol  and degreaser
what a messy job
but it has to be done  and  the parts look so much better  afterwards
in a week or so  i ll know what i need  to rebuild the engine
bearings/gaskets/seals  and other stuf
and than i ll have the engine block cleaned /rebushed and rebored (honed out)
and than the rebuild can start

i am rebuilding the engine to normal spec because it needs to pass the test at the registration office
and with a fully tuned engine it may be a problem
but in the future
when my bank account will let it be
i ll see what i can do to boost perfomance
and to start off with a good sollid an reconditioned engine is a good start

rear axle parts are being degreased also  and together with  the engine parts i ll order the bearings and seals  for that to
so work enough in 2007
but slowly  we'll get there
step by step
and bit by bit

2007

yes a new year  new chances
and  in the first week i already bought an spare v12  engine
its  a HE out of a 1985  xj  v.d. plas
it came with all the computers  and cables  so i can just build it in the car  for the ( sva ) test
this  is because  here in holland  they need to retest  the car after you modify it
and i am going  from a 6 cilinder to v12
so i ll need to have it retested so it ll say  12 cilinders on my registration
for the test i need  to put  the automatic gearbox  and all original standart  stuff in it
after the test  i can take it out again  and  do what ever i want
and thats where  the pre HE engine comes in
all i need now is  a manual gearbox

last weekend i started painting  the rear axle parts
nice and clean  in a gloss black finish
so yes  it may seem  that not much is getting done
i still am working  till late  at night  and in every spare moment  i can find  to get things  sorted

and when its getting warmer  i am going to start welding again

img_2381.jpg

img_2384.jpg

it has been a while but i haven't been sitting still
in the time that it was to cold  to work on the body of the car
i have been searching for parts
doing some of the mechanical bits
and  trying to find out more about  the original cars

i have  found a manual gearbox
ok its a 5 speed but  for road use it ll be even better
lower revs higher speed  and more fuel eficient

the progress on the rear spoiler  is that i have the parts made
its a 3 piece spoiler  and the 2 side bits where hard to get right
now i ll have to smoothen them out  and pull molds of of  them
so i can make a propper one  and maybe more to sell

i have found seats for a mear 50 euro  and they need  some new fabric  put on them but they are the propper period 70s  style

and inbetween  all of this i bought a spare engine  and automatic  gearbox  to use for the  test to get it registered
after that it ll fly out  as fast as it will be put in  and  than  the pre HE engine will be put in  with manual gearbox

but all that later
first  the weather is turning to  nice  and  time to start welding again
lots to do  so little time

as you can see  i have been working on the  car
it's been a while   since  i have  been updating  my site  but  it has been a  bussy  time
but  the  car is  progressing  bit by bit

i have  modified the  wheel arches to make it wider so i can fit  the  19 inch  wheels
and  also  so the  body kit  will fit propper
other  than  that  i have  taken out  a lot of rotten metal
for  instance  i had  to  make  new edges  where  the tankcovers  are bolted  on to
the wheel arches  where very bad   but i cut out  a fair bit  to modify so  most of  the  rot  was taken out  because  of  that
also i had  to make  a compleet new edge  where the bootlid rubber sits  on   this  is  all finished  nicely

other  than  that
i have  made  the  brake  air intake  in the  sill
it may look big  but it's  the propper  size  and shape
all messured on the  real car  so it cant  be  wrong

also  i am in the progress of  moddeling and  shaping  the  rear spoiler
i am pulling negative  molds  of  this mock up  so i can make  more  than one rear spoiler
anyone  need one ?

the rear axle  is  looking  great all painted
its like  its new from the  factory

the dif is getting  new parts
new seals , new brake  disks ,and  the rear calipers  are refurbished
with all new parts
all has to be  done in litle  spare minutes  in stead of hours
because i have  had  a big change in my life
( kids )
3 of them at once

other than that  am i figuring out  how to get  the getrag gearbox  mounted  onto the v12
because  a bellhousing  is hard to find
it seams  that  i am not  doing  much  right  now  to the  car
and  basicaly that is  true
but  litle  bits here and  there  are being done
so i am not worried
and litle  bits to for instance a rear axle will be  a big  bit in the  end
because  it ll be  an hour  work to fit a complete axle
and beautyfull it ll look when i have it mounted
and safe with all new parts

1976.jpg

it seems like  ages  that  i  put  an  update  on my site  .......and  it  is
but  i had  my reasons
well here  i  am  again  and  with  new spirit  to get  me  going  again
i spoke  to  a  whole  lot  of  people   and  i have  new  info
also  lots  of  new pictures
the  last  few years  i gathered a lot  of  info  about  the  4  cars
and  i even  have  info  no one  else  has
i found  out  that  at  the  JDHT they  don't  even  have   this  much  info  on the  cars  ( and  they  should  know  , it's  jaguar  heritage !!!!! )
and  that  there  are  a  lot  of  people  who  want  this  info
well i have  come  to  this  conclusion .......  that only  the  sun rise  is  for  free
because  even though  there  are  some  people  that  are  willing  to share  info  ( and  with them i am willing  to share )
others  only  want  to have for free .... the  info  that  cost  me   a lot  of  time  and  money
so to all these  people  i want  to say    SHARE  AND  I WILL TO
